I'm not sure which is the right name for this plant, but we call it Daun Selom in Malay. Daun selom is normally used raw, eaten with sambal belacan (Malay style sambal - made with fresh chilis that are pounded together with toasted shrimp paste (belacan) in a stone mortar to which sugar and lime juice are added. Originally, limau kasturi or calamansi is used but since this is scarce outside of Southeast Asia, normal lime is used as a replacement.). Daun selom can also be used as garnish for laksa dish or as kerabu (salad) in Malay cooking.
Yesterday, with help from Google, I managed to find out that it is also called Water Celery or Water Parsley in English. In my opinion, I think both names are suitable because it taste a bit like parsley with leaves that resemble celery leaves...You can refer to this blog, Gardening with Wilson for more information on this beautiful plant.
Managed to grow 4 pots of this from one cut of leftover plant that my mom bought at the local market.
1. cut the stem and soak them in water
2. now u can see some roots developed in the water
3. transfer to normal pots ; some people suggest pots with no holes underneath, but if you dont have one, just make sure you provide them with lotsa water :)
